Clemont's ode to the summertime Sunset

Yin and Yang. Lennon and McCartney. Sunrise and sunset. Are you seeing a pattern here? Beauty lies in duality. Coming off the success of her first single, “Summertime,” Clemont treads new ground with her second single “Sunset.” This track is a slow-burn that starts with pensive jazz chords and soothing vocals. The beat gives it a sultry feel, creating a sonic tapestry that vibes perfectly with the title.

What makes this single so special to me is the ease that this track came to be: Clemont with her lyrical prowess, my homie DWNLD’s ingenuity, and me being able to execute on exactly what was in my head. “Summertime” and “Sunset” are like two sides of the same coin in a way, but this time Clemont’s lyrics navigate love at sunset. Her singing is underlined by a beat provided by me and DWNLD, which perfectly captures the subdued vibe. My challenge was to make this song sound like something really lo-fi and vintage —something that sounded warm. The live string arrangements and my Fender Rhodes really lend it that authentic sound.

This is the second track she’s released on Declared Major Records.
