Hope you’re staying busy, hope you’re staying positive. If you’re anything like me, staying busy is the key to staying positive. No matter what’s going on in the world, I’m so blessed to have something that not only keeps me busy but always gives me comfort and inspiration--good music. Whether I’m just listening, working on a new song, or dialing in on a track, music is such a powerful art form because it takes me away from whatever is going on at the moment and gives me a way to escape. That’s the sentiment that inspired me to write Blue Hundreds.
If you've been around for a while, you probably know the story. Back in late 2017, along with the help of some incredibly talented singers and musicians, I set out to release a song every Monday. I thought it would be interesting to write from different perspectives and feature a roster of different performers on each song. As anyone who knows me can attest to, whatever I work on I try to make it unique--and this was one way to break all the rules we’ve been encouraged to follow. It was a fun and difficult challenge, because I was not only writing but recording and producing as well.
Then on week 7 I wrote and released Blue Hundreds. I knew it was special because I fell in love with the melody before there were even any lyrics. I often find myself getting excited about something that ends up becoming really special, even if most of the people around me didn’t share the same enthusiasm. I knew this song was destined for something even if others didn’t see the same potential.
My goal is to get out every idea that I have and share it with you directly with total transparency for you guys to see the creative process behind some of my work. There’s no one here telling me what to say or what changes to make--my goal is just to have fun and share these stories. I feel so blessed to announce that Blue Hundreds has officially hit 4 million streams on Spotify! I’d like to thank everyone who listened, shared, posted, streamed, commented, recommended--regardless of what platform you used.
I’m excited about the future and looking forward to how I will grow with you every step of the way. Thank you for helping us to honor my friend and to honor the talents that we’ve been given. We won’t stop until you hear every single note.
